Workout at home
Working out at home sounds great. We tell ourselves we’ll get up every morning
at dawn and hit the iron in the garage. It will be great ! We rush out and buy
a gym system like a bow flex or a Wieder home gym and we think we’re good to go.
A few months later the gym has become a clothes horse or cobweb factory
and we still look the same.
Working out at home requires that you make some investment in equipment. With some
of the new workout programs the amount of equipment is very minimal but with others
and to follow a more traditional workout regimen you will need so tools.
I have a good set of dumbbells which allow me to perform most of the effective exercises.
I also have a BowFlex, a treadmill and a wieder pull up and abs combo machine. I enjoy
working out so I use most of these tools but some were remnants of my previous
attempts to loose weight.
There are some really great programs out there now. I'm currently using the 10 minute
trainer system with is from the same pople that created the p90x. The 10 minute
trainer is a little less intense than the p90x but I use it in combination with
my regular workouts so they compliment each other well. The best program I ever tried
was the body for life. You can see my full assessment of this program here:
body for life.
Direct TV has the fitness channel which I do watch on occasion. I also watch US
for cycling tips and even VS when they have an event I'm interested in (the tour de France or
some sailing race). These channels are a good source for ways to keep you going on
your home workout program but I prefer magazines. I subscribe to Men's Fitness
and Muscle & Fitness
and have actual changed my workouts and gotten results from following their
articles.
I have never used this system but it's popularity is undeniable. I'm talking about the Wii
fitness program. My parents are using it now and are both really having a good time with it.
Even if they don't end up with fitness model bodies I'm happy that they are moving and
using their bodies. No matter what they do it's better than nothing. Once I get a chance
to try it I'll give you a deeper review of the potential here. If you want to try the Wii
system you can buy it here.
